Santa Claus Clebrations

Objective of Charades
The objective of the Charades Christmas game is to
guess words or phrases that are acted out by other players. The idea is to use physical rather than verbal language to convey the meaning of the words or phrases. Not one word may be spoken!

Rules of Charades
The type of subject which the word or phrase falls into and the gestures used to describe them are as follows.

  • A Song - Pretend to sing
  • A Movie, or film - Pretend to crank an old-fashioned movie camera
  • A Book - Unfold your hands as if they were a book.
  • A Person - Stand with hands on hips
  • An Animal - Thump your fists on your chest like a gorilla
  • A TV Show - Draw a rectangle to outline the TV screen

To describe the whole word or phrase in one go, gesture this by making a sweeping gesture in the shape of a circle.

The number of words in the phrase to be guessed are indicated by the number of fingers held up. When describing a single word the word can be broken down into syllables.

To indicate the length of a word make a "little" or "big" sign as if you were measuring a fish

The number of syllables in the word are gestured by laying the number of fingers on your arm. Each syllable can be described separately and this is gestured by laying the number of fingers on your arm again. To describe the whole word or phrase in one go gesture this by making a sweeping gesture in the shape of a circle.

Hold your ear as a gesture to describe a word that 'sounds like'.
